About Wild Survivors Tanzania:

Wild Survivors Tanzania (WST) is a non profit organisation dedicated to advancing human-elephant coexistence through innovative, community-centred conservation. Working across the Ngorongoro-Serengeti and Rukwa-Katavi ecosystems in Tanzania, we implement sustainable strategies that mitigate human-elephant conflict while empowering local communities to become stewards of their landscapes.

Through innovative coexistence techniques, capacity-building programs, and sustainable livelihood initiatives, Wild Survivors contributes to the protection of vital elephant migration corridors, the restoration of habitats, and the sustainable management of natural resources.

The Role:

Are you passionate about conservation and committed to finding solutions for human-elephant coexistence? Do you thrive in community-based work and want to make a lasting impact on elephant conservation?

Wild Survivors is looking for a dynamic Human-Elephant Coexistence Coordinator to join our team in Tanzania. This vital role supports a growing programme focused on elephant protection, habitat restoration, and sustainable community livelihoods in the Rukwa-Katavi Ecosystem. You will work closely with local communities, government agencies, and conservation partners to implement conflict mitigation strategies, enhance coexistence initiatives, and support biodiversity monitoring.

Key responsibilities include:
✔ Conducting fieldwork to identify human-elephant conflict (HEC) hotspots and implement solutions.
✔ Collaborating with local conservation teams, beekeepers, and community members to lead our participatory approach for assessing challenges and co-strategising on sustainable livelihoods.
✔ Managing coexistence data collection and monitoring technologies such as camera traps and acoustic sensors.
✔ Facilitating training sessions and outreach to strengthen community engagement.

We are looking for someone who:
✔ Has a degree in Natural or Social Sciences and at least three years of experience in conservation, community engagement, or project management.
✔ Is fluent in English and Kiswahili and skilled in data collection and analysis.
✔ Can adapt to remote fieldwork environments and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
✔ Is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about conservation.
✔ Has a full driving license and experience driving field vehicles (Hilux, Land Cruiser or similar)

If you are ready to help shape the future of human-elephant coexistence, we want to hear from you!
